The Den

celebrating 100 years

The Rover Section is for men and women aged 17 ½ years to 26 years. They meet on a Monday night from 8pm to 10pm. They are known as Raisbeck Rover Crew after the newsagency where our Scouts first started to meet in 1908. The Rovers run via an Executive Council of elected positions with assistance from a Rover Advisor. Rovers enjoy activities like DIY Moonlight Cinema, camping, hiking, watermelon rugby, service projects and continuous renovation work on their Rover Den.

Our Rover Crew was originally formed in 1922 and named Forrest Rover Crew. It was named after Lord Forrest, the West Australian explorer and statesman, whom was the first Australian to be ennobled. The Crew operated until the late 1990's with a couple of short breaks during that time. At that point it was disbanded due to lack of membership, but in 2001 was reformed as a joint Crew with 1st Canterbury Scout Group.
